Volunteer Thank You Dinner at the
On August 17 a dinner (with donated pizza from Dominos) was held in the Star Room of the Morck. The Friends have had a very successful 2019 thanks to the commitment and support of our volunteers. It’ is a year that will be hard to repeat with this level of success. The Friends of the Aberdeen Museum Board is overwhelmed with appreciation. The Board sent dinner invitations to 80 with volunteers and their spouses, who made the year so special for us all and our community.

Co-hosted by The Friends of The Aberdeen Museum and the Polson Museum, the dance will include music from two bands.
The gathering is inspired by the Hoquiam and Aberdeen communities. We want to celebrate the caring and the support they have shown to each other recently. We hope to have a fun and relaxing day where we can build further support and communication. We want citizens and community leaders to know they are appreciated and their kindness has not gone unnoticed.
From 1 to 4, Stan The Man and the Harbor All Stars, featuring Stan Foreman, Dave Reed, Bruce Hughes, and Maitland Ward, will entertain playing music from the 60s and 70s. From 4 to 7 dance to 8 Second Ride from Tacoma playing country western music.
Bring a chair, sit back and enjoy the music or cut the rug (or in this case pavement). When you need a break there will be food vendors, a beer garden, and friends to greet and new folks to meet.
For the event, we will close Myrtle street between Sumner and Cherry, as well as part of Cherry Street and we have the use of the PUD parking lot. We picked this block of Myrtle as a remembrance of Electric Park. It was a place where communities came together sharing a ballfield and electric production. We will have a display highlighting the facility to remind attendees of the meaning of the location.

The 1st year of the Rain Glow Festival was truly a fun event. The Friends “glowing world” at the Morck Hotel was a smashing success with 500+ visitors enjoying the beautiful display. The Friends of the Aberdeen Museum recognize the many wonderful volunteers as well as business supporters who made our display possible including, but not limited to, Becky/Doug – Jones Photo Collection, Harbor Tools, and Polson Museum.
Scattered throughout the 1st floor of the Morck, Friends of the Aberdeen Museum volunteers in circa 1920 costumes were positioned near 3×5 blow up photos of the ororiginal hotel. There was live music from the mezzanine, a collection of memorabilia, and a column/chair/table flower replication of the original hotel. It was extremely gratifying to receive praise from the visitors for the opportunity to see and understand what the old hotel was like.
